This is our leader?
Coming up on the date marking his one year in office, The Donald presidency has thus far been defined by recklessness, cluelessness, impulsiveness, vindictiveness, divisiveness, self-centeredness, dishonesty & possible criminality. That’s quite a list for anyone, let alone a president. In normalizing false doctrine (alternative facts) & lack of civility (unbridled hatred for the other side), it could permanently damage our nation & who we are as Americans. The chaos president never lets up. And honestly, ethics & character hardly seem to matter anymore to much of the GOP & their base. As a lifelong GOP supporter, I’ve not only left my party behind, but I’ve committed to calling out their irresponsibly deplorable indiscretions. It’s difficult to imagine America becoming great again till we repair the wretched state of what has become of the Republican Party.
Trump’s congressional allies doing his bidding to obstruct/cover-up the Russian investigations are using every underhanded tactic they can dream up to try discrediting the investigations. Their latest gambits are to do whatever it takes to disparage the dossier & call into question any surveillance done by the DOJ/FBI, as echo-world claims they sought to conspire against Trump. What the echo-crowd conveniently overlooks is Russia did attack our election, which was the whole reason for conducting surveillance in the first place, but Trump’s henchmen don’t have the least bit of concern over a foreign adversary delegitimizing our electoral process & our democracy, or who may have committed a crime by helping Russia. The echo conspiracy theories are numerous & all over the board, but it seems like they keep getting crazier as Mueller’s investigation closes in on their hero. All they want to do is protect a corrupt president.
No big breakthroughs on the Mueller investigation lately, at least not publicly. The Mueller team is very professional & don’t want to show their hand to witnesses, so they do not leak. We may not hear much until they make a major move, like when they hand down their next indictment(s). And when it’s time for Trump to be compelled to testify, that would really heat things up. Trump is worried enough that he wanted his GOP henchmen to “take control” of the investigations & try to shut them down, but his lawyers know that would be a pathway to a constitutional crisis. So we wait patiently knowing on any given day the next bombshell could drop. To whatever extent the congressional probes are still on track, they’re scheduled to interview this week Bannon, Lewandowski & perhaps Hicks, with Kushner also likely invited back soon (& there is late word Mueller has just subpoenaed Bannon for a grand jury testimony). In the group of links on international instability, there is certainly lots of that to be concerned over. The false alarm over the weekend which terrified Hawaiians turned out as a big mistake in warning them of an incoming missile, then took over a half-hour to respond with a correction. Such a mistake highlights how a miscalculation like that from us or our enemies could launch an accidental, unintended nuclear exchange. To whatever extent we can put in corrections & safeguards to prevent human error from starting WWIII, we’d better do it to the best of our abilities. Well, we have midterms coming up, which some articles below provide some perspectives. And we can’t help but wonder how badly the Russians might mess with us this time since we haven’t come close to taking their interference as seriously as we should. In these parts where Lake Erie will keep the snow-squalls flying around another 2-3 months, we have some updates to report on. The fact that Jim Renacci running here in Ohio is aligning himself with Trump, actually promising to be just another doting sycophant for The Donald from the Senate, will prompt me to do what in the past would have been unthinkable. I’ll vote for the leftwing liberal Sherrod Brown! There is really no choice! Until we effectively break this Trumpian/echo/radical-right swamp fever, we must support the exact opposite of this delusional & irrational demagoguery that has latched onto the GOP like a leech, sucking out its lifeblood. We should spread our message in trying to make the party sane again, whether it’s passing around a narrative like what’s found here in The Voracs & even casting what is essentially a protest vote. I made the same protest vote when I opted for Hillary in November 2016, which my rightwing friend Cubs fan from Arizona keeps deriding me over.
Renacci even went so far as to excuse Trump’s racist s***hole comment by saying the president says what people are thinking, which to me means what Ohioans should be thinking is he’s not the kind of representation we want in the Senate. It’s bad enough if some think it & even say it in a private setting (those types of despicable racial sentiments), but a president can’t be so irresponsible to say such things in an official meeting, where it’s bound to get back to the media & offend many throughout the world. So Renacci is already a no-go practically from the moment he announced his Senate candidacy a week ago. Conversely, I’ll stand by my House Rep David Joyce since he seems more aligned with the GOP’s rational Tuesday Group instead of the radical Freedom Caucus, which we do need a lot more members of the pragmatic governing wing in Congress, those willing to work on a bipartisan basis to get important things done.
The problem with electing these far-right compliant lemmings to office is that it serves to perpetuate the standing of the party as losing its reason & principles. It’s become standard procedure for disingenuous sycophant GOP reps to curry favor & flatter their way with a narcissistic president to gain power & influence, knowing the compliant echo & GOP Trumpeter base remain in Trump’s corner irrespective of how much of a train wreck his administration has become. It only ensures America has become a much lesser nation going forward, accepting of extreme tribalism, bigoted hatred, fabricated reality, narrow-minded agenda, delegitimate democratic principles, illegitimate usurpation of power, & a breakdown of civility. But that is what the modern-day GOP has come to stand for in their restless race to the bottom. In other words, the party is now a threat to America itself!
And I’d be hard-pressed to think of anyone that’s been brought into Trump’s inner circle, or any hardliners in Congress programmed for a knee-jerk response excusing The Donald no matter what he says or does, who hasn’t ultimately ended up being either corrupted or abused by him. That’s our chaos president, but his motives are far more sinister than we could even imagine. He pursues unrestrained power to fill his ego. Those who bow to his every command, it’s sort of like a deal with the devil. And it’s apparent Trump even has his many practically-hypnotized loyal supporters in unison repeating his many lies. That infatuation come could crashing down as the GOP braces for a possible wave election against them in November.
Congress should censure Trump over his despicable racist comments, & rightly so. Once accomplished, there’s another horrendously immoral issue they should censure him over. See the articles on all the hush money Trump had a crony pay to a porn star just one month prior to the election. The amount is stunning ($130K), but what is even more stunning is Bannon’s comments that Trump’s lawyer took care of 100 women during the campaign. Does that sound like in varying amounts he may have paid off all them too? What kind of monster & moral degenerate did we elect as our leader? These stories would be major headlines for other presidents, but for Trump it just seems par for the course as part of all the other mayhem that surrounds him. From there the links conclude with the chaotic, buffoonish presidency that had our heads spinning in this crazy year with Mr. Hair Souffle in the White House. There’s one article that explains how we could be a much better country, but Trump makes it impossible. But such conventional measures fail to encapsulate the utterly abnormal presidency that is unfolding or the way Trump, who craves attention and gets it by fomenting chaos, has barged his way into every corner of national life.
