GOP Support of Nonsense has become a Clown Show….
This isn’t just about Trump being Trump. This is about an American President essentially trying to turn his elected position into a dictatorship! The more he tries to get out from under the Russian scandal, the more he steps in it with another Trump crisis. His true motives for the Nunes memo have been exposed. Trump ridiculously claims that memo vindicates him from the Russian investigation, which all this strange episode really proves is this whole thing was concocted to try & sabotage the Mueller probe, & which further confirms obstruction of justice were committed by Trump & his minions. It’s more clear than ever Trump is desperate, fearful & hiding something serious. This much-ballyhooed memo that pundits like Hannity claimed would make Watergate look like a Snickers bar, in reality, doesn’t prove anything, as it’s just a bunch of misrepresentations, speculation, innuendo & taking info out of context. Their ongoing narrative is an alternative-facts version of that false reality they can count on their base to buy into. But outside of echo-bubble in the real world, the memo was met with derision. After all that hype, it landed like a thud, although in echo-world they keep holding onto the scraps hoping to salvage some of the desired effects. Millions of Fox News viewers will still believe the twisted spin. That audience would think this next statement is preposterous, but the more viewers Fox has, the more our democracy is imperiled.
Hence, I no longer have much patience with that Fox fake-news crowd, since they’ve been sold a bill of goods that ultimately threatens our freedoms. The mentality they’re exhibiting match that of doting Trumpeters, & in fact, they’re mostly the exact same people. The situation has become dire enough, we either need to successfully make them aware of their misguided opinions or fight them by overwhelming all their false narratives with logic. Their mental conditioning has become so convoluted, it’s obvious their partisan tribal loyalties have overtaken rationality. Trump famously said during the campaign his base wouldn’t leave him even if he shot someone on 5th Avenue. Fortunately, he’s never tested that claim, but what he has tested is constantly throwing out a barrage of lies, many of them proven false, yet his Trumpeter base does indeed seem to buy into every word he says. I’m astounded by what that bubble-world is willing to believe, but it shows the level of deception our nation is dealing with. As for the latest breaking news, the newsfeeds below reveal more evidence Trump lied about his reason for the Comey firing, plus he’s trying to weasel out of his Mueller interview. If so, he then would likely be served with a subpoena. From there if Trump pleads the 5th or executive privilege, the outcry could grease the skids soon thereafter for his exit from power.
This memo was yet another big lie, & Trump hoped the resulting outcry would disparage Rosenstein among others, accompanied by rightwing attack ads prepared against Rosenstein. The most direct route to get at Mueller is removing Rosenstein. Despite many of his acolytes expressing opinions to the contrary, Trump basically admits to wanting to use this memo as justification for firing Rosenstein, setting in motion the events to sabotage the Russian probe. Trump would appoint a replacement, which even if from there firing Mueller would be politically untenable, that new Deputy AG could still try limiting the scope &/or funding for the investigation. Trump seems to have a knack for firing people willy-nilly without good cause, reasoning he’s going to purge those he deems not completely loyal, particularly those considered a personal threat working to bring out the truth on the real scandal. That memo goes out of its way to mention Rosenstein when he wasn’t even integral to seeking the FISA warrant. Be aware, the memo overall is a partisan hack job. One assertion is that it makes a big deal out of what it sees as bias within the FBI. But of course the FBI is partisan, just like the rest of the country many have personal opinions either pro-Trump or anti-Trump, but that doesn’t stop them from performing their jobs well to protect our nation.
Keep in mind the actual evidence is a thousand times more relevant than how the evidence was gathered. Sources aren’t nearly as important as the crime itself. Nunes, Hannity & all of the Trump enablers have it all backward. Among the points which help discredit the memo, it’s questionable how much Carter Page was directly involved in the campaign’s Russian coordination, plus he was already under suspicion for his strange associations with seedy Russians long before the Trump campaign was launched, even bragging about his service to the Kremlin. He practically invited FBI surveillance. And the memo even admits the FBI Russian probe was not prompted by the Steele dossier or looking into the antics of Page, but was initially started by news of Papadopoulos revealing the Russians were up to no good. And this notion about the FISA application not revealing the Hillary campaign’s funding Fusion GPS, who in turn enlisted the help of Christopher Steele, in the overall scheme of things is really more like making a mountain out of a molehill. Legally there’s no requirement to reveal all the minutia of info related to the evidence, the judge was informed it was oppo research (which is simply standard procedure for a campaign), & Fusion ironically was originally funded by a conservative group. And of another point made in the memo about Steele’s motives that Nunes put in CAPS (he must of judged it to be important), the reason Steele was so concerned about Trump becoming the American President is he became keenly aware of those compromising connections Trump’s campaign had with the Russians. By the way, Steele is being ruthlessly attacked also, just because he sought to save America during the campaign of our pending disaster come election day.
So the pieces-parts contained in that memo don’t even add up. In some ways it undermines its own case. And even if the memo does offer a sliver of plausibility, it’s overshadowed by the obvious motives of those behind it. Nunes declares there’ll be similar (absurd) memos in the days ahead. Jerry Nadler’s rebuttal pretty much lays to waste the Nunes memo, plus we should be seeing the Dem memo from the House Intel Committee very soon (hopefully unless Trump messes with it). But it’s unforgivable the way so many GOP congressional reps are willfully contributing to their bigger goal of covering-up evidence of apparent serious crimes done in conjunction with the Russians, while tarnishing the reputation of the FBI as a way to achieve their devilish aims. So as the FBI is being unjustifiably smeared by this memo, word has it future contrived memos will also go after the State Dept. What sense does that make? They’re also trying to use Rosenstein, who’s done absolutely nothing wrong, as their fall guy in a despicable strategy to stop the Mueller probe at all costs. Also consider the one GOP member who actually read the whole FISA warrant, Trey Gowdy, admits the Nunes memo in no way undercuts the Mueller probe. And Gowdy is retiring from Congress which has loosened his strings. Might he be like Watergate’s Deep Throat & is now the source of critical evidence for investigators? Just a thought. I’m just speculating. But I think when history is written, Russiagate will be found to have several Deep Throats.
The main thing to watch for in the near future from Trump is any sign of an impending firing of Rosenstein, which would indeed spark a constitutional crisis for America. Firing Rosenstein to get at Mueller would be like Nixon’s Saturday Night Massacre that clinched his demise. Such a similar irrational move by Trump would immediately launch a massive protest movement throughout the nation by millions of thinking patriotic Americans, demanding the impeachment & removal of this lawless president. Let’s brace ourselves for that possibility. And if at that point a submissive Congress fails to protect his investigation, Mueller might be prompted to hand out indictments like candy based on the evidence he’s gathered by then, possibly even including the President himself, which some legal scholars say indicting a president would be constitutional. Americans need to grasp the reality of why the memo was created in the first place. It’s taken a page out of the O.J. defense with attacking the investigators & muddying the waters, stirring up so much confusion that impartial judgments on the real crimes become difficult. It’s disgraceful how team-Trump are shamelessly impugning those trying to get at the truth, but Nunes & his stooges can’t offer any compelling signs the actual facts about the evidence are wrong.
Trump, by comparison, is making Nixon look like an altar boy. He’s propping up his state-run echo by disparaging authentic news sources, disrupting intelligence agencies by commanding loyalties seeking the establishment of his personal Gestapo, packing the courts with his cronies, ruthlessly suppressing any political dissent, giving a foreign adversary a free pass to discredit our elections, while emboldening a large army of Trumpeters almost cult-like in the worship & belief in their leader. Those actions taken together are a classic authoritarian playbook, something we’ve seen in numerous totalitarian regimes throughout history. Many of those who read this will have a knee-jerk reaction of dismissing my warnings as wildly inaccurate or an alarmist overreaction, BUT LOOK AT WHAT’S ACTUALLY NOW HAPPENING!!! Our democratic institutions are under assault from a wanna-be dictator, yet the echo-crowd still don’t get it. So they’re enabling him. America is in big trouble if the echo-mentality prevails. Trump even alludes to the true purpose of that memo was to get at Rosenstein so they can shut down Mueller, claiming the memo vindicates him on the Russian case, but it really only further strengthens the case of obstruction against the prez. How many of us are willing to see clearly enough to admit the truth? We’ve never seen anything like this before & there’s no easy road back from fascism. Maybe our democratic institutions really can withstand the onslaught, but we shouldn’t take any chances. Stay vigilant! Trump-world has the compliant echo & obedient Trumpeters who are as relentless as they are misguided. But could their loyalties really precipitate a fascist dictatorship? I keep saying, don’t think it could never happen here!
GOP congressional members are swayed by the loyalties of the echo & GOP base to Trump. They’re in a state of denial, figuring that their own support for Trump is an act of self-preservation, which may actually bring on their own destruction. As they bow to our American Fuhrer, it’s become my former party which in their current form I no longer recognize. It may turn out with Trump corrupting practically the entire GOP & as more damning evidence from the scandal comes out, making it clear crimes were committed demanding the prez be removed, the ensuing rough times could become the cleansing/reawakening necessary to turn such a dire situation into a blessing in disguise. The GOP has gone so far off the rails it might not be salvageable, so the total demolition of the party may ultimately offer a fresh start, whether a reformed GOP is resurrected or a brand new center-right party emerges. As for all the Trump sycophants who joined in on this charade, they should be purged from Congress &/or the media airwaves. And don’t be at all surprised when the Russian investigation concludes, some now within Congress & the echo could be indicted. Their complicity in the obstruction is more clear by the day.
I know I tend to repeat myself when I get on one of these long rambling rants, but I tend to do that when I see many in the same party I’ve supported for a lifetime seemingly betray their country, & the GOP base at the beck & call of an extremist conservative messaging machine are supportive of a tribal cause threatening to destroy our democracy. I’m as shocked by this whole thing as I am disappointed. And the party should be functionally obliterated if it can be proven they looked the other way & conflated the evidence of a presidential campaign joining forces with a foreign adversary to taint our election. By enabling Trump it provides tacit support for the Russian dictator. Putin, still bitter over the way America helped break up the former Soviet Union, now looks to turn the tables by tearing down our constitutional democracy, in using the American President as a puppet, discrediting our elections, & using a massive Russian bots propaganda machine to spread phony conspiracies playing on our differences. Many DC leaders & messaging peddlers are allowing this to happen. If all the facts come out, those participating may be tagged with a legacy as severe as the word treason. Ironically, Trump just used the word treasonous to describe the Dems, but we often see the guilty blame their opponents for the same crimes they themselves are guilty of.
The demise of the GOP must come with other perks. Obviously, any new party rising from the ashes will need supported by sane conservative messaging, with most of the echo being finally/thoroughly disgraced & relegated to the dustbin of history. But the party has brought this all on themselves through their enabling, obfuscation, absconding, dishonesty, subterfuge, gaslighting, & aligning with a corrupt leader who may well be the personification of evil itself. And I don’t use that word evil of an American President lightly, but as we continue to witness the serial dishonesty to protect himself through inane political stunts, tearing away at the foundations of our democracy while stomping on the rule of law, I’m not sure the word evil is a strong enough description to explain what we’re seeing. And the overwhelming amount of circumstantial evidence showing connections to Russia demands answers, not contrived fairy tales to subvert the real facts from coming out. This is far more dangerous than McCarthyism from the 1950’s, since this wanna-be dictator has abused his power with the backing of most in his party, most of the party’s base, & supported by the relentless propaganda coming through the echo. This avalanche of misinformation, deception & widespread misunderstandings offer a real risk the pillars of our constitutional democracy may succumb to these coordinated attacks, turning America into a far lesser place none of us are going to like. The way to defeat this menace is through informing the people, so please spread these warnings to one & all. We’ve got a blog site The Voracs that can help counter the evils coming out of Trump-world.
Getting to the many related articles below, I’ll highlight a few of them. Here’s an important message in the next two paragraphs from the link constitutional-crisis-in-
Donald Trump will destroy this entire country — its institutions and its safeguards, the rule of law and the customs of civility, the concept of truth and the inviolable nature of valor — to protect his own skin. We are not dealing with a normal person here, let alone a normal president. This is a damaged man, a man who has always lived in his own reality and played by his own rules. When the truth didn’t suit him, he simply, with a devilish ease, invented an alternate reality. There were no hard and fast absolutes in his realm of rubber. Everything was malleable, and he had an abundance of gall and a deficit of integrity to push everything until it bent. The dud of a memo by the near-treasonous water boy Devin Nunes was mostly about FISA repeatedly granting the F.B.I. permission to monitor Page’s contacts with Russians. Far from tarnishing the investigation into Russian contacts with the Trump campaign, the memo seemed to bolster the credibility of that investigation.
The closer Mueller gets to the full truth, the more Trump’s panic will grow. He will feel more and more like a cornered animal, and it is very likely that he will resort to his final, unthinkable options. Firing Mueller is a definite possibility. People say that would create a constitutional crisis, but I say we are already trapped in a slow-motion constitutional crisis, or constitutional train wreck. Trump will never put the country above himself. And his Republican assistants in the legislature have so bought into Trumpism that they now know that they will share his fate. Buckle up, folks: This ride will get much rougher before it finally comes to an end.
If not for the fog of the echo, nobody in their right mind would ever take that memo seriously. We see the true purpose of this memo fiasco offered up in this sober analysis from nunes-memo-trump-latest-r
We waited. We were told it was going to be massive. Then it dropped. And, well…. One of the most hotly-anticipated political documents of recent years was finally made public and it told us an awful lot, while also telling us very little. One thing it confirmed is that the environment surrounding Special Prosecutor Robert Mueller’s investigation into possible collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia’s alleged meddling in the 2016 election has become utterly politicised; whatever conclusions Mueller now reaches, people are likely to believe what they want to depending on their political persuasion.
A second thing it underscored is that Donald Trump and the Republicans will go to any lengths and twist any situation, to undermine the investigation and distance it from the President. What we saw today was the latest attempt by the Republicans and Donald Trump to throw mud on the process, even before it has been concluded. And if the most important priority is getting to the bottom of whether or not Moscow interfered in the 2016 election – and if so, how to stop it doing so in the future – then what we saw today helped nobody. Except, perhaps, the Russians.
Just below that article is the one titled nunes-memo-aims-russia-
(The real surprise was the degree to which the document undermined the attacks that the president and his allies had been advancing to tarnish Mueller.) When the House Intelligence Committee finally did its dramatic reveal of the so-called Nunes memo, several things were immediately clear — and all were bad for committee chairman Devin Nunes and President Trump , the man his efforts were ultimately intended to benefit. The push by Republican leaders to unveil this document, over the strenuous objections of the FBI, the Justice Department and Democrats in Congress, fit a broader pattern of coordinated attacks on Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election and Trump team ties to Russia. It began as soon as Mueller was appointed with phony claims about conflicts of interest, and has continued until today. The Trump allies’ MO: gin up hysteria around unsubstantiated allegations, ignore or suppress efforts to get to the truth, and move on to the next effort to tarnish.
Most importantly, the Nunes memo fails utterly at Trump’s reported purpose in urging its release: to lay the groundwork for firing Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, who oversees Mueller’s investigation and is key to protecting that investigation going forward. There are nevertheless signs that the White House may still be using the memo to lay the groundwork for Rosenstein’s removal. Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders issued a statement Friday afternoon claiming that the Nunes memo “raises serious concerns about the integrity of decisions made at the highest levels of the Department of Justice and the FBI to use the Government’s most intrusive surveillance tools against American citizens.” In the meantime, we must not forget that the Nunes memo and the many smears that preceded it impose significant costs to our national security and the rule of law. The coordinated attack on the integrity of the federal law enforcement and intelligence agencies will no doubt reduce public faith in the strength in those institutions and may hamper their ability to obtain intelligence in the future. Politicizing the FISA process undermines our ability to conduct surveillance on foreign powers and their agents. For that reason, the most disturbing reflection about this episode is not that Nunes chose to engage in such a pointless, partisan battle to save Trump’s skin — it’s that Nunes and Republicans on the House Intelligence Committee were willing to sacrifice so much more for that selfish purpose.
