Bedlam Still Reigns in this White House….
Trump is more corrupt than he is clueless, although he’s easily the most clueless president we’ve ever seen. So the circus-show lives on until we can soon put an end to this misery through the Russian investigations. But for now we must continue witnessing a White House spun into an out-of-control reality TV show, just a chaotic carryover from the Apprentice. We saw this week more shenanigans with Omarosa spilling the dirt from her time as a Trump staffer, plus the resignation of a key aide, Rob Porter, for spousal abuse. The prez doesn’t have any idea what he’s doing, he just wants to make headlines, so he’s certainly succeeding. Just so you know, Porter was a guy making recent headlines for acts like taking a picture of his then-wife with a severe black eye after he punched her, & Omarosa once said we would bow at the feet of Trump. This circus has seen the front entrance to the White House become a revolving door.
But beneath all the bungling incompetence, there are grave dangers that lurk. In attacking institutions like the FBI which are vital to our security, the independent voice of the free press, plus political opposition which is an integral part of our political system, the consequences this administration are bringing on could prove substantial. It’s also very perplexing, when we see our prez issue glowing praise & give Putin a pass despite his nefarious intrusions on our democracy, so just from outward appearances it looks like an American President is doing the bidding of a Russian dictator. Plus by not dealing with the ongoing Russian meddling, the prez is rolling out the welcome mat for allowing them to keep discrediting our elections. And Russia is happy to oblige, since they are already interfering in our November midterms. Donald Trump and Russia are buddy-buddy, so there must be a reason why.
Even if it’s proven his campaign didn’t collude with the Russians (which I believe it will be proven this year they did), it’s still quite possible Trump is an illegitimate president. Just consider these facts, the Russians hacked into the DNC server, hacked & released John Podesta’s emails, placed phony ads on social media read over 100 million times by Americans, & now we’ve learned they also penetrated our election system. Common sense would suggest that might have been enough interference to invalidate our election, especially considering less than 100,000 votes strategically targeted in WI, MI & PA would have changed the outcome. Also consider that election was over a year ago, & we’re just now learning the Russians infiltrated our voter rolls in certain states? What else are we going to learn in the future about what they got away with? That they altered votes? And how much are they prepared to mess with our elections even worse this November? Yet our prez won’t lift a finger to stop them. The most logical reason is he colluded with them during the last election. That has yet to be proven, but just stay tuned. I had originally predicted the prez would be gone by the end of 2017, so while my timetable was off, the end result is still likely to come to pass.

For all the talk that Trump is “winning” — because he’s convinced Sean Hannity and his fellow cultists that the FBI was pro-Hillary Clinton? — these stunts have no effect (other than to add to the counts of obstruction) on Mueller. The special counsel doesn’t care what the GOP base believes or what Trump’s approval rating is among Republicans. He doesn’t care if Trump insults congressmen. Mueller is following the law and the facts, slowly encircling Trump. Panic, come to think of it, is a perfectly rational response to the trap in which Trump finds himself.

Mueller III because he is a pathological liar who cannot be trusted to refrain from telling falsehoods to investigators. No, really — that is essentially what the New York Times is actually reporting. “Lawyers for President Trump have advised him against sitting down for a wide-ranging interview with the special counsel,” the Times tells us, citing four people familiar with the situation. “His lawyers are concerned that the president, who has a history of making false statements and contradicting himself, could be charged with lying to investigators.” Buried in this is a hint at an important concession. It is likely Trump’s lawyers don’t simply fear Trump might lie to investigators because he helplessly cannot refrain from doing so even about trivial matters, but also that he might feel he actually has reasons grounded in self-preservation to lie to them — because he has something important to cover up.

Trump is even talking to friends about the possibility of asking Attorney General Jeff Sessions to consider prosecuting Mueller and his team. “Here’s how it would work: ‘We’re sorry, Mr. Mueller, you won’t be able to run the federal grand jury today because he has to go testify to another federal grand jury,'” said one Trump adviser. Basically they are building a case that Hillary Clinton, along with top leadership of the Department of Justice, the FBI and the State Department, colluded with the Russian government — and all of them, along with special counsel Mueller, should be locked up. That sounds extreme. But consider what the president said on Monday about Democratic members of Congress who didn’t applaud him at the State of the Union address last week: They were like death and un-American. Un-American. Somebody said, “treasonous.” I mean, yeah, I guess. Why not? Can we call that treason? Why not? I mean, they certainly didn’t seem to love our country that much. With a leader like that, is it such a stretch to believe that his Attorney General might actually appoint special counsels to investigate the FBI and the State Department to ferret out the Democratic traitors? Would we really be that shocked to see them try to prosecute Hillary Clinton or Bob Mueller? I’m afraid it’s getting easier to believe every day.

Needless to say, the Nunes memo and breathless public statements hurt our standing in the world. Our intelligence collectors will have a harder time convincing potential sources or foreign liaison partners to trust us with their information. Whether or not Steele was an FBI source, the memo gives the impression that the U.S. Congress and White House were willing to smear those who take risks to give us information for political gain. I guarantee the British and others have raised the bar when it comes to passing intelligence to the U.S. And that is bad for all of us.

Our country is founded on the idea that the rule of law is paramount. When wrongdoing has reached the highest levels of government, independent investigations help the American people learn whether their leaders are worthy of the trust placed in them by the citizenry. For over a year, the country has watched as this president has aided and abetted in the erosion of public confidence in our nation’s law enforcement institutions. Worse still, he has done this all to protect himself and his family. While the full breadth and depth of any presidential wrongdoing may not be known for some time, two things are known: first, over many instances during the last year, the president has used the levers of his office to subvert a credible investigation into his personal misconduct, including firing the FBI director, and attempting to fire the special counsel tasked to take over the investigation after Mr. Comey was relieved of duty. And, second, the need to protect the investigation has never been more important so that the country can learn exactly what transpired in the 2016 election and the days, weeks and months that followed and hold those responsible accountable.

It was apparent he had previously known about Porter’s wife-beating, so despite his distinguished military career, he too has been corrupted by Trump. Will Kelly be the next to leave? And do they even care about security clearances for those at the highest levels of this administration?
