If Only the GOP Still Believed in Abiding by the Law…The GOP is sure dishing out the garbage in protecting their evil emperor (see links at bottom of Part 3 for their ridiculous excuses). But rest assured the facts are on our side! The unfortunate reality is when we’re dealing with an intractable cult, it can take an earth-shattering explosion before they’ll ever admit the truth. Their polarizing mindset dismisses the facts. We truly need a Nixon tapes moment with bombshell evidence being unveiled that would shake up even bootlicking Republicans, especially with so many documents & witnesses the White House has blocked that could still come out. Whether the smoking gun(s) get exposed during the Senate trial to change the dynamics, or becomes known at any random point in 2020 which could open up new articles of impeachment &/or destroy his reelection chances, the bottom line is America needs a new president as soon as we can get one.
I’ve become fully aware how something dramatic would have to happen, with the GOP proving during the Ukraine hearings they’ve become hopelessly compromised. So it may just be wishful thinking on my part, but with Trump’s track record it seems there’s no limits to what he might have been capable of, & it’s still quite possible the next crime or set of crimes that hit the headlines could prove to be the tipping point. When the whistleblower first blew the whistle on Trump’s nefarious plot he was forcing upon Ukraine’s new president, at the time it immediately shot up public support for impeachment by double-digits, so here’s hoping we do indeed get a similar consequential news bombshell in taking the polling to the next level. The many investigations & evidence during the 3 years of this presidency have already revealed a veritable crime wave coming from a criminal enterprise, so if more were to come out, GOP Senators could still change their tune in the coming jury trial if a decent chunk of the GOP base finally saw the light & got behind conviction. For America’s sake, we’d better hope so.
As we stand now, the odds of the Senate doing the right thing & abiding by the Constitution are extremely slim, since finding 20 principled Republicans out of 53 is a tall order. The GOP caucus seems uniform in succumbing to the cult mentality & worshiping their king, even the ones who know their position is compromised & are on the wrong side of history. The rest of the GOP has been defiled, which is why for the sake of democracy & our cherished freedoms, we ideally should completely wipe out this hopelessly corrupt party & start all over.
Never in our nation’s history has a president, his legislators, the AG, media messaging sources (the echo) & the party’s base conspired to gaslight America like this! But let me point out again I am confident this president is so rampantly criminalized, plenty more proof of crimes is certain to come out in the months ahead, which could either rekindle impeachment or badly tarnish his reelection hopes. So with all the illegal & corrupt things we’ve already learned about Trump, the very worst of it may be yet to come. Impeachment Approved in House Judiciary Committee
Friday morning was historical, with a party line vote as two articles of impeachment were voted out of committee to the full House. So for only the third time in our history, the articles go to the floor of the House for voting on impeaching an American president. If all goes according to schedule, look for the House to pass impeachment on Wednesday, where it will be sent to the Senate to preside over a trial that begins in January. We should pause to consider the magnitude of the moment. It’s a process handed down from the wisdom of our Founding Fathers to protect our nation from a tyrant, with Trump really being a poster child of everything our founders feared most in a president. Using foreign nations to help an American candidate or sitting president cheat in winning an election, discrediting the votes & will of the American people, was right at the top of our forefathers’ list of what impeachment was meant for.
Such international malfeasance we’ve seen with the scandals revolving around Trump’s Russian & Ukrainian connections, have unquestionably been revealed as multiple times worse than what was the two-bit domestic burglary that launched the Watergate scandal. And President Clinton’s impeachment was relatively minor by comparison, lying about a sexual affair, a topic Trump himself is all too familiar with. The Ukraine evidence & hearings proved Trump’s crimes were irrefutable, including actual admissions by key players like Rudy, Mulvaney & also from Trump’s call summary. Yet his party denied the crimes to protect their leader & the political power he represents, offering up to us the greatest challenge to our constitutional democracy any current living American has ever seen. Any party that embraces such crimes & corruption from their leader, is a party that for the sake of the nation must be thrown out of power. And in any normal times Trump would be long gone by now.
