The Economy…The links in Part 3 always start off with articles on our economic conditions.  The big corporate messaging can often be about as deceptive as the far-right echo-media, feeding us only half-truths intended to protect their own wealth & power.  The American capitalist model has evolved into having some of the most imbalanced wage/wealth/opportunity gaps in the entire world.  But the powers that be in private & public leadership feed us the line of this being such a strong economy, pointing to data like exceptionally low unemployment rates.  But the question they can’t answer because they want to keep the American public in the dark, is in this society which does create enormous & unimaginable wealth, why do roughly half of working class families struggle to make ends meet?  I wish our leaders would finally grasp that policies designed to give the working class higher pay & more disposable income, that would spark economic growth far more than some shortsighted Trumpian tax cut for the rich.

Those at the top of the feeding chain with prime positions atop major corporations are eating huge slices of the pie for themselves, while feeding many of their workers the crumbs.  Revamping the economic model so wealth is more widely shared will be very difficult but not impossible.  However, if we as a society keep buying into this rose-colored glasses view of the economy telling us how wonderful things are, the fix does become impossible.  If we could ever reach across the aisle & work together on real solutions, the answers won’t come from doing nothing & don’t necessarily stem from many progressive ideas on expanding government spending.  People shouldn’t expect handouts, as those with able minds & bodies should earn what they get, & the mindset should be to aspire to higher levels based on one’s efforts.  But most of the new jobs which have been created in recent decades since we’ve lost millions of good-paying manufacturing jobs, have typically been low-wage service-oriented jobs, so we need to create a new structure that allows those workers to at least get a thin slice of that pie.  Check out here details on the real economy:
