Time for the Trial…With the articles of impeachment expected to be delivered to the Senate this week, we’ll see to what extent evidence is presented & key witnesses are called, or are GOP senators just going to rush this through in a sham trial.  The Senate head/jury foreman has already declared he’ll be working in lockstep with the defendant’s legal team, while many jurors have thumbed their noses at the legal process by already declaring the defendant innocent.  That’s strange, since all the evidence & all the witnesses have so far pointed squarely at the president’s guilt.  And the most important documents & witnesses have been buried under the massive cover-up by Trump & his cronies.  It’s interesting how a cover-up brought down the Nixon presidency, which by comparison was minor dust-up in contrast to the hurricane-force obstruction which for years has seen Trump vehemently & vociferously hiding the most incriminating evidence on both Russia & Ukraine.  And because the revealed evidence so far has been so damaging, it’s preposterous to not allow the hidden evidence to come out during the trial.

With Trump being able to turn his own party into a cult, they seem totally disinterested in getting at the facts.  Apparently, partisan tribal loyalties have become more important to them than the constitutional rule of law.  And to unflinchingly back & excuse Trump is to support gaslighting demagoguery, which today’s GOP seems all hunky dory with.  By their talk & behavior, they could care less about crimes coming from the highest office, unless of course it was a Dem in the wrong.  Those supporting such corrupt authoritarianism by extension identify themselves as enemies of democracy.  Nobody in that party should be let off the hook for this charade, be it GOP politicians, echo-media or doting base.  Once the trial starts, there should at least be votes taken in the Senate over witnesses & at least 4 GOP senators would be needed to call the likes of John Bolton to testify.  But it’s doubtful whether even that minimum standard can be met, since the Trump/McConnell GOP may see to it the rigging of this trial will be complete & total.  Pelosi’s delay didn’t produce concessions from McConnell, but it did highlight how GOP jurors seem all in on the cover-up, plus new evidence has come out the past couple weeks.  If we get zero cooperation from Republicans in getting at the facts, it’s all the more reason to vote out all corrupt cult members come November, who’ve identified themselves as cult members by running on the GOP ticket as the lawless party.

It’s just hard to believe a major political party would be a party to serious criminal actions by the White House, but that’s become the current state of affairs in America.  Yes, it is scary.  It should have Americans outraged that their Constitution is being trampled on.  And this should have alarm bells going off we’re setting a precedent that future American presidents can lie & cheat their way into getting elected.  Trump lies with impunity which inexplicably doesn’t put a dent in his support from the GOP base.  Despite the already overwhelming evidence of crimes which his party has swept under the rug, there’s still time for other bombshells to drop which could sway public opinion among those who have yet to see the light, which in turn could persuade more moderate GOP senators.  But there’s no doubt in my mind with any other president in any other time in American history, prior to the Trumpian cult coming into being, the removal of a president for such egregious crimes would have been a foregone conclusion.  So stay tuned to the theatrics as the trial starts, since the twists & turns of politics could provide unexpected drama.  Here are the most relevant articles from the past few days:

Iran Repercussions

By pulling out of the Iran deal after Trump took power, our foreign adversary is now rushing to develop nuclear weapons.  They also have loyal proxies & terrorist networks around the world.  Against international protocol, we just killed one of their top political & military leaders (which Trump has come up with various cockamamie reasons for it, as imminent bombings of our embassies was just another lie).  Iran may not exact their revenge for now in fear of American military reprisals, but the attack by Trump last week won’t soon be forgotten.  So I fear payback is coming, even if it occurs down the road when we least expect it & might be delivered in spectacular fashion.  A nuclear Iran with their international connections would present a bigger threat to the U.S. than even North Korea.  There is a big divide among the Iranian people over support for their current regime, so it perhaps offers an opening for us.  Only through smart diplomacy, wise policies & lots of luck can we achieve what needs accomplished soon, namely regime change in Iran or stopping their nuclear program cold (preferably both), but with Trump in charge we can only hope to rely on luck.  We have tons of links on this story:
