Conservative Politics: The mayhem this week comes not just from Russia, but from Asia, Virginia, & Alabama

If Trump had an understanding of the circumstances & nuances of the domestic & international issues enough to provide viable solutions, plus stop insulting, threatening & bullying those who cross him – as well as stop lying so much – it’s possible he would have made a good president, and successfully improved our country with some real conservative politics.  But he doesn’t & he isn’t.  Trump is simply a bad apple, lacking any normal type of human emotions, compassion, virtues & decency.  To the extent a nation could elect him president, the potential is there for Trump to do incalculable damage to our nation & its standing in the world.  We’re already seeing signs of that, with many inside & outside America seeing him more & more as a running joke.  The world’s most powerful nation & bedrock for democracy should have never chosen a running joke for their leader.  There’s a high probability this egregious blunder can be constitutionally remedied through uncovering illegal activities, which as Americans we’d better hope so.  Trump said during the campaign we’d be winning so much we’ll get tired of winning, so the one win we need for starters is his removal from office.

So, as the investigations are steadily putting the pieces together like a jigsaw puzzle to paint a clear picture of how this whole Russian plot played out, it’s become more & more obvious there was something going on between the Trump campaign & the Russians.  The evidence is pointing towards a quid pro quo where in exchange for the Russians helping Trump’s campaign with a deluge of leaked emails & fake social media ads, the new Trump presidency would agree to remove sanctions & repeal the Magnitsky Act, reflected by the way the party’s platform was changed at the convention.  Particularly with Mueller’s team, they are methodically & systematically uncovering the evidence which is steadily putting more pieces to the puzzle in place.  As much as the convincing info connecting the dots has made it apparent there was coordination between the Trump campaign & the Russians, the proof most become conclusive enough not just to hold up in a court of law, but in the court of public opinion.  Such proof of any direct involvement by Trump in the original crime or the cover up, it would require removal from office even if he had already established an impeccable reputation like a President George Washington.  But he’s not Washington or Lincoln, he’s Trump.

The other big headline this week is the exit polling before the voting booths even closed in Virginia on Tuesday. I figured the Dem candidate was a lock when voters expressed that healthcare was their top issue, since public sentiment has swung in favor of Obamacare.  Exit polling also confirms the anti-Trump sentiment was a big factor.  We can never draw definitive conclusions from any one election (which the Dems have prematurely become quite giddy & the GOP very worried), but the Virginia governor’s race looks to be a repudiation of the Trumpian brand of hatred, racism, bigotry, vindictiveness & divisiveness.  And the intensity of that anti-Trump mood propelled turnout which held true not only in Virginia, but in Tuesday’s races throughout the country.  As I’ve been warning about in about a thousand messages over many years, there’s only a limited audience out there for the type of angry & narrow-minded scorched-earth nihilism the far-right extremists are promoting with Trump & the echo serving as their blow horns.  If the GOP base keep listening to those misbegotten foghorns which are driving away Dems & Independents, it could set the stage for a wave election a year from now.

That hardcore radicalism which carried over from the tea party movement is so unworkable & intellectually clueless/dishonest, it would have years ago been relegated to the dustbin of history had the Dems managed to nominate a dynamic figure in the last presidential race along with adopting a party platform with real/viable solutions for the struggling working class.  But the lesson from the VA Gov race suggests even without a dynamic Dem candidate, the vast majority of voters are tiring of the antagonistic & aimless BS that defines the rhetoric of our unqualified leader Trump which the GOP has hitched their wagon to.  The signs from Tuesday’s elections might prove to be a starting point in the GOP rejection of Trumpism, a necessary first component for returning the party’s mindset back to sanity.  As long as such a large portion of the GOP base keep supporting the absurd pseudo-conservatism as defined by the echo, they will continue to drive today’s conservative politics into the ground.  Recent polling shows voters are fed up with both parties, so with the bar being set so low, there’s room for dramatic improvements for either party to capture future elections should they happen to stumble upon any kind of coherent economic narrative.

So as is almost always the case, the big headline news & first group of links in the related articles start off with the Russian scandal (although the VA election should prove to have a major impact going forward).  Trump’s bodyguard testified his boss was solicited by Russian prostitutes, but denied he ever partook.  Could the bodyguard be lying like other Trump cronies?  Or be back in his own room when it occurred?  And could that guy we heard on the Access Hollywood bus tape restrain himself?  This new news does help make that British spy’s dossier just that much more curious, interesting & credible.  We’re also following the money & seeing many in Trump’s orbit may have been dipping into a massive Russian banking scheme.  You can take your choice of articles about Trump’s swamp creatures, some who routinely lie almost to the degree Trump does, which that current list of all the President’s men include Flynn & his son, Miller, Sessions, Kushner, sonny-boy Donny, Ross, Pompeo & Page, all of whom have acted strangely, suspiciously, secretly &/or dishonestly over whatever connections they had with the Russians.  No one knows the time or day, but we’re just waiting here anticipating the next shoe dropping, which could likely equate to the next indictment dropping.  At this point it looks like Flynn is most in the bulls-eye, since Mueller wants him to play ball & it’s his own son also facing legal jeopardy.  But like any good mystery, we never know who’s next & to expect the unexpected.

There are articles in the news on international issues.  In losing so many experienced, knowledgeable, diplomatic-type civil servants from the State Dept, we no longer know what we don’t know, while the world knows that we don’t know, to where we’re losing influence throughout the world & with some have actually become a laughingstock.  This is no laughing matter.  The world has become more dangerous than ever, so it’s vital we not retreat from the world & know how to navigate the many minefields out there.  Trump’s mission on the Asian trip is dominated by the North Korean threat.  Should he pull off the near impossible by pulling the strings leading to a denuclearized Korean peninsula someday, he’d actually go down as a valuable president, regardless how much of a dirtball he is or what I’ve said about him.  But what do you think is the more likely outcome with Trump, de-nuking North Korea or starting WWIII?  I shudder to think.  As Trump continues his Asian tour, the world waits with bated breath to see if he gets to meet with his idol, Putin.

Check out the final group of links ​where lately it’s been discovered a number of rich, powerful, famous men have used their lofty positions to abuse women.  The bombshell story hit today that Roy Moore has been accused of abusing underaged women in the past.  There are four women who’ve come forward & their stories sound credible, with the Post having lots of sources to corroborate.  He might do the Trumpian play of claiming fake news/women are lying, while right away even fundraising off the news by turning it into a so-called spiritual battle.  Plenty of echo-heads are sure to buy in.  If the disturbing story does prove true, Moore should be toast & the Dems could even take a ruby-red Alabama Senate seat, although maybe I’m jumping the gun due to the state’s wacky way-to-the-right voting record.  But such despicable acts must be punished.  These various men who’ve recently been caught are losing their jobs & careers, & in some cases might & should go to jail.  Society cannot tolerate sexual predators like these, although sometimes we elect them President of the United States.
