Trump & his cronies are cranking up their spin-machine to levels never seen before, going ballistic over what they claim is a corrupt investigation by blowing relatively minor infractions WAY WAY WAY out of proportion.  There’s an instance of an FBI agent expressing his political opinion (isn’t this supposed to be America, not Russia?) which to protect the integrity of the investigation Mueller did remove him from the probe.  I do totally agree the investigation is biased, with Mueller, Comey & Rosenstein all being registered Republicans, which all along tilts it in Trump’s favor.  And now we see that Trumpian cover-up machinery is having conniption fits over claiming Mueller obtained Trump transition emails illegally, another rightwing political stunt to besmirch special counsel’s credibility (there must be really juicy stuff in there since Trump’s lawyers are so worried about those emails).  Come to find out those emails were on a government server making them fair game for investigators, & a Mueller spokesman just shot down those lies from Trump’s lawyer with this statement:

When we have obtained emails in the course of our ongoing criminal investigation, we have secured either the account owner’s consent or appropriate criminal process,” Peter Carr, a spokesman for the special counsel’s office, said in a statement to The Hill.

Trump allies keep throwing out trial balloons to see if their feigned outrages resonate well enough to allow them to take major actions against the investigation.  But the bottom line is those inside Trump world must be gaining a sense of desperation Mueller is about to lower the hammer, which their last-ditch attempt to save this presidency comes down to discrediting &/or removing Mueller.  Because if Mueller uncovers the truth about this entire scandal, it’s in all likelihood game over for the prez.  And many of those in his circle who engaged in either the original coordination with Russia or the subsequent cover-up, they’ll also be swept up in the net.  In the end, I expect dozens of indictments.  Don’t be surprised if that includes GOP congressmen (Nunes? Rohrabacher?), big donors (Mercer?) & Fox hosts (Hannity? Dobbs? Judge Jeanine?).  Could it be that’s why Trump’s minions are currently going crazy in making defamatory remarks toward the Mueller investigation, since they not only seek to protect Trump but also themselves?  When it’s all said & done, all politicians & pundits (perhaps numbering in the hundreds) who carried the water in lying for Trump should have their reputations forever tarnished.  And if it gets that bad, the GOP won’t recover for years.  Oh to be a fly on the wall when Trump’s lawyers meet with Mueller this week as we could be nearing a tipping point.  Our imaginations can run wild on the purpose & outcome of that meeting.

But we’re at a dangerous juncture where Trump enablers are floating out there any falsehood they can dream up to try stopping the investigations in their tracks, while those investigations are still in the process of gathering evidence.  Any disruption of the Mueller probe in particular, it would create a constitutional crisis & threat to our democracy, unlike anything we’ve ever seen.  Trump minions are working overtime in trying to legitimize someone who may prove to be an illegitimate & corrupt president.  As a wanna-be dictator, our prez does have the prerequisite authoritarian personality & instincts.  He combines a ruthless style with a charismatic & even slippery personality which makes him especially dangerous.  The danger goes up exponentially whenever he gets attacked or cornered, which we may be approaching such a moment as the Mueller investigation appears to be closing in on him.  Americans need to know all the facts of how Russia managed to interfere in our election, so the last thing we need is for Trump & his pundits to in any way derail the investigations.  The fact they’re going overboard trying to hide rather than uncover the truth, there’s no doubt in my mind they’re covering up things that are truly serious.  Things that are even criminal.  The investigations must be allowed to run their course so we can find out.

In other news, Trump did call his best bud a couple days ago.  Then Putin heaped praise on Trump during a long press conference, plus he just called back Trump thanking him for helping sniff out a potential terrorist attack in his country.  So the Trump-Putin lovefest that started years ago continues to this day, which we have to wonder if Putin holds so much incriminating info over Trump’s head, he might be pulling Trump’s strings like a puppet.  Could such an adversarial leader practically own Trump, to where the President of the United States of America first & foremost prioritizes Russia?  It almost seems that way. If they can use their alliance to sincerely battle mutual problems/threats, that can be a good thing by teaming up to fight the dire situations in places like Syria, North Korea & countries hosting terrorist cells.  But there’s something strangely odd about their relationship that seems to go beyond solving the world’s problems.

The leadoff to part 1 in the related articles below always involve the Russian scandal, likely to evolve into the biggest political story of all-time.  Scrolling down past the many Russian links, we see a group of articles on terrible nominees & incredibly high turnover from the White House.  Do you remember when Trump boasted he would only hire the best people?  The hearing for a district court judge nominee by Trump was so embarrassing, I felt bad for the guy.  And Trump has a record number of departures among his staff.  Then we see a group of links on the scary incompetent crazy prez we put in the Oval Office.  As I heard W’s ethics lawyer Richard Painter recently say about our current prez, “he is psychologically deranged & should seriously be considered for removal under the 25th Amendment.”  So if his mental state goes south to where we can’t wait on the Russian investigation, Painter recommends another way to fire Trump.  The last set of links reflect Trump’s crazy incompetence as poll numbers for a variety of questions do not come out favorably for Trump.

Let me expound more on what we’ve seen this past week, since we might be heading for a true crisis.  That Trumpeters in unison would follow their leader by turning their vitriol on the FBI is a serious case of misplaced anger.  With an organization like the FBI with tens of thousands of members, naturally there are going to be some bad apples like any organization public or private.  And no doubt the FBI like any other federal agency, or the deep state as some would call it, are polluted with swamp creatures who are only in it to bide their time, living off the gravy train of taxpayer dollars as they feed off the government dole.  But to hear Trump demean the entire FBI is over-the-top inaccurate, irresponsible & inexcusable, which is only an attempt to delegitimize an essential bureau we depend on for our protection/security.  I have no doubt the vast majority of civil servants who make up the FBI are conscientious professionals fully understanding the gravity of their responsibilities & do their jobs to the best of their abilities.  It’s got to be painfully disheartening to have their commander-in-chief (insulter-in-chief) call them out as a group belittling their performance.  We can’t paint them all with a broad brush like Trump & the echo just did, insinuating the entire bureau is corrupt just because a few agents may have been caught sending messages which are perceived as biased.

This whole nonsense of Trump sounding the dog whistle directed at his political allies & Trumpeter base to follow his lead in distrusting the FBI, in reality is only a political ploy to ultimately get at Mueller.  His investigation is certainly more credible & making more headway than the charade now playing out on Capitol Hill, since those probes are bogged down in partisan chirping.  Think of the irony when the congressional investigators, particularly GOP members of the House intelligence committee, are tasked to dig up the facts on possible coordination & cover-up by Trump & his staff, yet those same investigators are now themselves taking part in the cover-up.  When the wolves are assigned to watch the hen house, it threatens to totally corrupt & derail the House investigation.  It may leave the only investigative body not corrupted is the Mueller team, which is why team-Trump are going full throttle in strategically trying to dismantle their authority.  And any thought of firing Mueller could very well turn into for Trump what the Saturday Night Massacre did for Nixon when he fired the special prosecutor, as it was the beginning of the end.

fire trump like nixon

What we do know for certain is that Russia meddled in our election, a direct attack on our electoral process & constitutional democracy.  Robert Mueller has been assigned with the critical task of finding out how they did it & who was involved in helping them.  And if Trump somehow pulls the levers of authority in finding a way to get Mueller fired (which he denies for now), we’d immediately have a constitutional crisis on our hands & every patriotic American should immediately call for the impeachment of the President of the United States.  I would expect Americans to take to the streets in record numbers at the prospect of our democracy being under attack.  At the very least it would show proof of obstruction which from that point going forward would delegitimize Trump as our leader.  Assuming a GOP-controlled Congress would balk at following through on immediate impeachment hearings, it would indicate our nation is under attack through an attempted coup by one of our major parties!  It would be a tragedy that the party myself & conservatives throughout the land have supported for a lifetime would suddenly become our enemies, whom from their leadership perches would fail to protect our constitutional democracy in a time of crisis!

If such an emergency were to soon occur, we’d need to hit back with all we’ve got to take our country back!  We would have the backing of the majority of Americans to fight against the tyrannical attacks of Trump & his political pundits in government & the echo.  The swamp that really needs draining would be inside the White House, halls of Congress & Fox News studios, which failure to defeat them may forever cost us our democracy.  And in the very last link below, it’s clear we’d also have to battle back against Trumpeters, who based on a PPP poll even admit to being enemies of American democracy through their willingness to allow criminal activity by our leader.  Only 14% of Trump voters believe he should resign if the investigations find he colluded with Russia, which among the rest of them shows a demented mindset we should be thoroughly embarrassed these people are actually fellow Americans.  Did I read that right?  Just 14%???!!!  How could sane Americans not realize if our current leader were proven to have committed such horrendous crimes, we’re left with no other choice but to fire Trump.  Such twisted thinking seems better suited to 1930’s Germany.  It’s truly scary millions of Americans would hold the Constitution in so little regard.

I still invite the echo-crowd to review these, despite exposure to such progressive materials being against their nature.  But if they can remember what they read here now, in a few months they’ll come to realize this Kos stuff proved far more accurate than the rightwing echo-trash bubble they’re stuck in now.
