Those were the words of war hero Col. Vindman during his congressional testimony, part of his response to a question about why he had the courage to come forward, even if in his honesty he was calling out an American President.  Well, now we see Vindman is being punished for responding to his subpoena & testifying truthfully under oath.  Yes, a main feature why America was always great is because citizens were free to serve their country honorably & tell the truth when called upon, without fear of retribution by any opportunistic powers within a lawless nation state bent on advancing their own highly partisan agenda.  So Vindman proudly exclaimed as an American, here right matters!!!  Or, shall we say, once mattered.  Our brave colonel said that in late 2019, but here in a post-impeachment 2020 world of unleashed Trump, the rules have changed.  Watching Vindman being escorted out of the White House crystallized in my mind how we’re on the path to authoritarianism if we fail to change course:

So what kind of monster are we really dealing with in the White House?  From inside these links below, we see actions by our president along with hundreds or thousands of other infractions these past 3 years, that he is systematically dismantling America’s greatness in a step-by-step manner & rapid-fire fashion.  Against Vindman, Sondland & many other loyal civil servants in the not-so-distant past, plus plenty more surely coming against innocent targets this year, Trump is ordering his loyal gestapo to purge all of Herr Fuhrer’s opposition.  He exacts his revenge against any sign of political opposition, just as any rogue dictator does.  And he constantly displays an angry vengeful temperament, just as any fascist society needs in a leader.  The more power he usurps & henchmen he puts in key positions, the more severe the punishments they’ll mete out against opponents.  These headline stories are all part of Trump’s revenge & ongoing cover-up, intimidating other potential witnesses & whistleblowers into silence as part of a broader effort to undo our constitutional democracy.  We’re beginning to lose our civil society, our values, our freedoms…while also losing what is right:

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Rather than longer commentaries & a deep dive into the newsfeeds, things have been considerably condensed for now.  We’re largely relying on the Yahoo & MSN newsfeeds to give us a good accounting of the recent headlines from various news sources (& it saves lots of time by not perusing dozens of different news outlets).  If & when we can find promoters/social media influencers or financial contributors, those who can help build us a much larger audience in giving this blog the clout it needs to really do some good, we can always then resort back to the more robust posts done regularly up until the end of the impeachment trial.  Now it’s looking like the most feasible way to save our country from lawlessness & corruption will require voting the prez out in November.  Yes, we’re in an election year, so please share the love of country, share the truth, share the sanity…by sharing www.TheVORACS.com.

They just keep churning it out to a malleable audience.  The more conservatives trust the echo & dismiss real news, the closer we get to fascism.  I’ve repeatedly warned we’re trending in that direction, from which Americans by & large aren’t taking the threat seriously enough.  But again I say as I’ve stated dozens of times before, don’t think fascism couldn’t happen here in America.  And should that become our fate, the echo would be mostly to blame!  So let’s be proactive warning Fox viewers & other echo fans what they’re really consuming, since bringing even just 5% of those conservatives back to reality could be pivotal in November & for our nation’s future:

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

In servitude to their earthly king over the one true heavenly king, so many evangelicals are destroying the Christian witness & making the faith look toxic to the outside world.  Sure, there are the cultural wars & abortion issue which will remain contentious, but nothing will hurt the evangelical church more in the long run than the deception & hypocrisy seen coming from within.  How some Christians seem to place President Trump on the same pedestal as the Christ himself, it’s an incredibly destructive misconception.  I’ve long been an evangelical myself but regardless of ideological differences, Mitt Romney’s speech this week provided witness testimony that Mormons are maintaining their moral code, just as so many evangelicals are losing theirs.

The most commonly cited data can mask the rot lurking beneath.  As the basic numbers look fine, this is not a healthy economy from the standpoint it’s a very distorted economy, & if nothing is done it’s bound to keep getting worse.  We’d have a chance to start developing good ideas for resolving the inequalities if the GOP base returned to our fact-based world, & if the progressive left comes to understand more government spending isn’t the solution for every problem.  But pushing back on our increasingly oligarchical economic structure is very difficult when DC political leadership & the entire media are dependent upon the financial incentives coming from the corporate consortium.  

 

Plus it’s hard to do much of anything with the right-wing echo feeding our bitter divides & stoking the destructive polarization.  That deceptive messaging-machine over the past decade or more has taken sound conservative principles, & dragged them way off into a disturbingly zombie-like/narrow-minded mindset of division, exclusion, confusion, irrationality, extremism & nihilism that’s attempting an impossible retreat from engaging in the diverse modern world as it’s evolving.  The echo has spawned Trump & made the GOP unrecognizable from the constructive/pragmatic conservatism it once stood for.

If Bernie is the nominee, is he too far left to win in November?  If Bloomberg’s ads allow him to win the primaries, will supporters of the other candidates not support him because of the perception his money had stolen the nomination?  It plays into an age-old question, to win the general is it more important to attract swing voters or energize the base?  I do applaud Bloomberg for vowing to keep up the anti-Trump ads even if someone else gets the nomination.  Biden may have made the same mistake as Hillary 2016, promising a steady Obama-like presidency when the voters still seek an anti-establishment, renegade rabble-rouser.  Or is Uncle Joe a victim of the first two states being non-diverse, when the core of the Dem base is largely comprised of minorities?
