What a Week!…My wife left me a note today with my lunch, please pray for our country!  That’s probably the best advice I can pass along, since we’re dealing with an evil inside the White House & all his surrounding accomplices that represent an internal danger to our nation, the likes of which we’ve never seen before.  Except for the inane ramblings of the most diehard Trumpeters, people paying attention can easily see the crimes from the Ukraine scandal are textbook impeachment infractions based on abuse of power.  Specifically, there is the illegal deal proposed by our president that falls under the umbrella of extortion, bribery & conspiracy, plus witness intimidation along with the cover-ups which represent obstruction.

The available evidence shows Trump hung the promise of military aid over Ukraine in exchange for digging up the dirt on political opponents, so eerily similar to the collusion from the Russian scandal.  And the crimes went far beyond just one phone call, since this was a pattern of behavior planned out & carried out for months.  The whistle-blower whose complaints were made public today apparently had the backing of many among the alarmed White House staff who were witnesses to the crimes.  Some of those corroborators will likely come forth voluntarily, so plenty more incriminating evidence is sure to follow.  And others within the White House were complicit in the cover-ups, which Congress is surely going to want to question them.  Those cover-ups included transferring transcripts of Trump’s conversations to an alternate electronic computer system in an attempt to keep them secret.

This is no time for a congressional recess, as the momentum from this smoking gun of a scandal must be investigated expeditiously to ride the wave of this newfound momentum.  All six House committees & even the Senate Intelligence Committee have a constitutional duty to dig up the facts as quickly & completely as possible.  Even the polling this week has swung in favor of an impeachment inquiry, so the public is increasingly paying attention.  The hearing this morning featured the DNI defending the whistle-blower as doing the right thing, although it is perplexing he would initially provide the info to the White House instead of Congress, giving team-Trump a heads up on their cover-up strategies.  But his standard go-to blame the accusers schemes are really getting tiresome.

With a seemingly more unhinged president, these are dangerous times in America.  He referred to those who exposed the facts as spies, even insinuating they deserve execution based on old-time standards.  Sounds like your typical authoritarian fascist.  The thing that seems lost on Trump is he’s the one who’s broken the law, not his political opponents.  Never lose sight of the true enemies of the people are not the Dems or media or deep-state swamp, but rather are all those who help keep Trump in power, from GOP politicians to echo-pundits & the Trumpeter base.  A mentally unstable prez (almost as crazy as Rudy) may do something rash before being forced out of office, such as starting a major international incident or inciting his followers into civil war.  So we must be alert to something disastrous.

The crimes that have just been exposed look so blatant & widespread, by comparison it’s making Watergate look more like a romper room spat.  The Nixon tapes became the smoking gun, similar to the call transcripts & whistle-blower complaint being the modern-day smoking gun.  We now have concrete proof of abuse of power & obstruction which are the very same charges that ended the Nixon presidency.  The big difference with these Trump scandals is they are far more widespread, international in scope, & our current president was directly involved in the original crime itself.  Let’s hope GOP congresspeople soon break ranks with their leader like what happened in 1974, coming to realize the die is cast & they need to get on the right side of history.

I’ve gone overboard on my comments & article links this week, but it’s been that kind of week.  We’ll likely look back on this week as the tipping point to the most consequential political news story of our lifetime.  And the narratives & new revelations are now playing out fast.  We all need to pay close attention, since these crimes by an American president will be talked about & prominently featured in history books long into the future, even for as long as America & our world exist.  Here’s the buffet of important links pulled from today’s newsfeeds to peruse:
