The Trial of President Trump…As you might expect on a week like this, we’ve posted a huge number of links to articles.  And whatever happens the rest of the week, we’ll post our comments & more links on Sunday (before the game).  If the Senate doesn’t call Bolton to testify, at least we can learn the details when his book is scheduled to be released in just a few weeks (& all those Trump sycophants in the GOP will have egg on their faces) .  Plus more & more signs of crimes just keep coming out that piles onto the mountain of proof pointing directly at Trump.  This first group of links are yet more examples of the incriminating evidence that only adds to the stack against the prez (& now even Lindsey Graham):

To Have a Trial Without Witnesses would be Unprecedented!:

How far are GOP senators willing to go in being complicit in the massive cover-up?  And will this end up as a real trial or a scam?  Another question, will justice or lawlessness prevail?:

Trump’s Lame Defense

The president’s lawyers gave their twisted arguments on Saturday, Monday & Tuesday.  They kept denying the facts & evidence, offering basically no legal defense for the charges contained within the articles of impeachment.  And their arguments kept shifting as more damning evidence has continued coming out, so they’ve gone from the original no quid pro quo defense to the quid pro quo but so what defense.  It does beg the question, they call that a legal defense?  But maybe their presentations were actually incredibly effective in a couple different ways.  The jury appears to be rigged so it may not matter how dishonest & incompetent their arguments were.  And I actually have no idea what Trump’s lawyers were all babbling about most of the time, but I think with their droning on they may have inadvertently stumbled upon a cure for insomnia.  (Special recognition & kudos for boredom goes out to Ken Starr, who I’ll confess I was on his side when he investigated President Clinton more than two decades ago.)

But as for their legal defense against the actual charges against their client, there was none!!!  And for most of the time those lawyers totally avoided the bombshell news coming from Bolton’s book draft.  Much of their conflated rhetoric sounded more like a campaign event town hall, throwing out smears & conspiracies designed to attack the Dem candidate leading in the national polls & potential Trump opponent in November.  Those campaign talking points had nothing to do with the impeachment case, so it was only done as a handy diversion tactic feeding red meat to their echo-fueled base.  Everything Trump & his minions do revolve around distractions, distortions, denials, diversions, false equivalencies, whataboutisms & smoke & mirrors, but increasingly the American people are seeing through the guise (at least the ones outside the echo-bubble).  Below are thoughts & articles about the case put forth by Trump’s legal team which they wrapped up Tuesday:

*They went overboard in trying to put Hunter Biden on trial, trotting out a conspiracy theory which is nothing more than campaign fodder to try smearing a potential presidential opponent

*Their arguments mainly focused on grievances & distractions while avoiding the actual case, which I think even his lawyers know the president did the crimes, so they’re reduced to the ultra-weak defense of so what

*Taking their arguments to their logical conclusion, in spite of overwhelming evidence of serious crimes, they claim it’s not an impeachable offense so I guess a president is above the law

*They cut their arguments short, as basically they had nothing to say except for their stale word-salad nonsense

*Complained about House procedures for impeachment from last month, only as a way to deflect from their own incompetence in addressing the issues at hand

*Dershowitz presented this crazy convoluted logic that Trump’s offenses aren’t impeachable, which he even admitted most legal experts don’t agree

*Ken Starr offered up a dull case of legalese mumbo-jumbo, where he took the exact opposite tact from when his probe resulted in President Clinton’s impeachment

Wednesday’s Questions & Answers

See more on these Q&A’s in our weekend posts of The VORACS, plus we’ll have news on the critical vote over witnesses.  It’s even possible by then GOP senators could do the full monty of lawlessness by voting to acquit.  As for what we heard today, Dershowitz has sure left us scratching our heads, basically claiming it’s fine for a president to commit crimes to help steal an election.  Huh?  That’s an argument for a fascist dictator!!!  As for Dershowitz himself, the words come to mind what my bamboozled Fox-loving uncle recently said of me, how could somebody so smart be so stupid?:
