Evil-Echo Empire Update
The echo is that whole wide world of conservative media on TV, radio & the internet which is giving conservatism a bad name, since they’ve shifted the mindset so far right it now lives in delusion-land. So I prefer to label it the pseudo-conservative media, which I also began referring to it as evil when Fox fake-news was caught enabling an internal culture of sexual harassment & debauchery. No wonder they like Trump so much! He’s one of them! I also liken their messaging & the compliance from their consenting audiences to a cult. When a same basic tribal narrative/agenda no matter how falsified is repeated over & over to an accepting/willing audience, that groupthink takes on a life of its own & becomes its own reality, regardless how distorted or preposterous those beliefs might be. And the longer their shared illusions are circulating among the tribe, the more entrenched it becomes till it exists in their own minds as an alternative reality. It really becomes dangerous in an echo-world crowd with many millions buying in, existing in their self-created fake universe revolving around their fake media.
So those of us conservatives who choose to stay on the sane side, we can start fighting back by exposing knuckleheads in the echo-news, of which there are many of them. They’re far more dangerous than liberal Dems, since they’re pointing us in a direction to bring down the GOP from within. The echo is a pox on conservatism, not an advocate. Ideally the U.S. should follow the example of the U.K. & let low ratings allow Fox fake news to die a well-deserved demise. Either changing or eliminating Fox & the rest of the echo would be doing the world a huge favor, not because we don’t need conservative news sources, but because we do need conservative news sources! No messaging that radicalized should ever be perceived as conservative! To use racial or bigoted analogies, to say the echo represents conservative values is like saying Black Lives Matter or the Antifa are humanitarian organizations much like the Salvation Army, & that the KKK or neo-Nazis are groups sharing Christian values. It’s a flat-out insult to conservatism that the echo is seen as aligned with such extremist ideology, since that media echo-machine is actually a total distortion & bastardization of conservative values & principles, continually spewing hatred & falsehoods.
I’d have no problem with their angry rants (I do angry rants too) if their echo-bombasts were based on the truth, not lies. But the falsehoods, distortions & conspiracies have only gotten progressively worse through the years. The first step in restoring sanity to the conservative mindset is to replace the echo with logical, constructive conservative dialogue that would have a focus on real solutions to our numerous entrenched problems. Negotiations, compromise & bipartisanship should not be considered dancing with the Devil. Making such a dramatic change is a real challenge since the echo has attached itself to conservative thought like a leech sucking out its lifeblood, drawing attention to itself by generating controversy through stirring up anger and hatred towards all who don’t share their extremist hardcore viewpoints. The echo has very little to offer in the way of real solutions or governing, only perpetuating division & gridlock through extremely entrenched positions and demonization of all who dare reject their echo. Economy Section
Trump & his merry band of Trumpeters do share a couple things in common. They know the economy hasn’t been working so well for the middle class/working class & they have no idea what to do about it. As we’ve seen out of Trump from the very beginning, it’s always all about him & not the people, & the multiple issues we want him to fix he’s never had the understanding or focus to even take that first step in tackling. It seems many in the working class who’ve lost ground for decades are still buying the bold boasts & promises made by Trump, whereas his actions & proposals seem to say otherwise. Should Trumpeters finally wake up to realize he’s not going to help them & he’s not doing MAGA, but it’s only a self-glorification trip to feed his over-inflated & insatiable ego, they may finally need to hesitantly admit the mistake made in ever supporting this clown.
Trump is starting to go around the country on his Trumpeter tour touting his tax plan, which he claims is going to bring back Main St. But much like Trumpcare the devil will be in the details. Other than stating his desire for a big corporate tax cut, it sounds like he’s leaving the details up to Congress, which he’s already setting up the narrative to blame Congress if it doesn’t get done. So he won’t go out on a limb to specify his own plan, since he never knows the details of anything & he doesn’t want to take the blame for anything. Corporate tax cuts are all well & good (& needed) so long as enough deductions/loopholes are pared back to somewhat offset the cuts, otherwise it could be a budget buster which we know their dynamic scoring claims will project growth far beyond what’s realistic.
So with this tax reform proposal running headlong into urgent actions like flood relief, avoiding a shutdown & raising the debt ceiling, we’re looking for a very contentious month ahead in DC. That’s a lot to bite off for leadership that can’t seem to get anything done. And believe me, in light of increasingly astronomical wage/wealth gaps, it’s definitely not the time to try more trickle-down tax cuts at the top, which we must watch for whenever the details do come out. Just imagine the optics when at a time billions need to go to help Houston while at the same time we must raise the debt ceiling, how in the world can Trump & the GOP also sell a tax cut for the wealthy? And of course perpetually-dingy rightwing radical Ann Coulter also wants to add in the wall.
I see where my favorite punching bag got back in the news. The despicably intransigent & two-faced gridlock-Teddy (Cruz), the main target of my insults from a couple years ago, is being quoted again with the epic flooding hitting his state. The tea-party favorite was always a fiscal hawk in the face of other disasters like Hurricane Sandy, but he’s certainly changed his tuned with Harvey. And his side’s general anti-government/anti-regulator
So below is another rundown of links offering commentary on our various economic problems. Among the list does include the coming perilous debt ceiling, struggling workers and lots of articles about tax reform. Towards the bottom links, liberal concepts like single-payer healthcare & universal basic income should be tread carefully since it could be a slide into socialism, but it can at least be part of the discussions. As we seek to do something big and transformative, as we need to, all sorts of ideas from various positions should be on the table.
