But Fighting a Demagogue For Now Takes Precedence…Based on traditional measures I’ve always been a center-right conservative before the echo dragged the GOP mindset way out on the radical right. The battle now going on between Dem presidential candidates pits progressives out on the left with more moderate candidates. The most important thing is to win the Nov. general, so the question becomes is it better to build the bigger tent or energize the progressive base? But regardless who wins the Dem nomination next year, we need to rally around that candidate for the sake of the country. The differences between the moderates & progressives in the Dem field are really inconsequential compared to what we’re up against. Even among voters who incorrectly believe the GOP messaging when they paint the Dems as socialists, such ideological tags become irrelevant when we realize the depths of what the GOP currently represents, especially if Trump somehow gets on the November 2020 ballot.
The Dems have to win a year from now because the GOP has turned into a dangerous cult, a psycho pseudo-conservative movement based on disinformation, divisiveness & demagoguery. Criminality is so much worse than progressivism, as it’s on a totally different scale. A vote for the GOP has become a vote for unbridled corruption & lawlessness, since they’ve proven a willingness to deny or excuse their current leader’s serial criminality. The party has lost its way & is unsalvageable in their current form, from which it needs torn down so we can start anew, eventually putting conservatives in charge who are pragmatic, honest & sane. But for now those of principled integrity have no choice but to vote Dem, even if they nominate Donald Duck to run against Donald Trump, since our constitutional democracy & free society are literally on the line. A second Trump term could well make America in the 2020’s look more like 1930’s Germany, & by the time most Americans finally wake up to our slippery slope towards fascism, our country could already be too far gone to recover.
Since the dangers posed by our own leader are so much more pressing than the myriad of problems we face with our uneven economy, most of this Part 3 post focuses on Trump more than economic articles. Looking ahead, at least the 2020 vote becomes an easy decision to the point of being a no-brainer. Even for those mesmerized enough to vote for Trump in 2016, after what we’ve seen, it becomes inexcusable to make the same mistake again. It may not matter when Trump gets buried under the avalanche of his own criminal activities, so his attention may become focused on running from the big house instead of running for the White House. Once we replace this demagogue of deception, the priorities can once again emphasize needed economic fixes. Here are some thoughts on 2020:
Economic Concerns
Like I mentioned regarding the economy, once we successfully stamp out the fascist threat, we can turn our attention towards restoring the economic viability of the working class. Roughly half of all American households struggle to make ends meet, which is unconscionable in a nation as wealthy as ours. But the answer isn’t more tax cuts at the top, or more government handouts creating a dependency mentality essentially undermining our work ethic. The answer lies in somehow restoring our once-renowned work initiatives through an economic structure where people again have confidence their hard work will be rewarded. Way, way, way too many of our fellow American workers are stuck in low-wage, cookie-cutter, dead-end jobs with no prospects for the future, where even their hard work often goes for naught as they become helpless pawns to the whims of a monopolistic corporate shell game.
As the wealthy presiding over large corporate interests play their games to hide, horde & build on their wealth, it has largely reached the point of diminishing returns in modern-day capitalism, where the predominate players in many industries can use their power & leverage to stifle competition. The system actually serves to often suppress the free market model, as barriers to entry are too prohibitive & smaller players struggle to gain a foothold, so we’ll need some smart ideas for bringing the system back into equilibrium should we ever enjoy a functional government again. These mammoth corporate interests have also mastered their craft at controlling labor & their pay. So we do need a restructured structure where workers gain the ability to earn a livable wage while having more control over their own destinies. Here are recent updates on our present economy, including how the younger generations generally have fewer opportunities & lower real incomes than us baby boomers enjoyed:

While Republicans continue to debate process over substance and dodge questions on foreign interference in our elections, let’s review the facts:
✔️ Trump pushed Ukraine to interfere in our 2020 elections.
✔️ He used US military aid to pressure them to dig up dirt on his political opponent.
✔️ He tried to cover it up.
If the average person did this, they’d go to jail.
Listen. We know that this fight feels overwhelming. Every day, we learn about more crimes. Every day, there’s a new news article. But the facts here are simple and there is no longer room for members of Congress to stand on middle ground. It’s time to turn up the heat and tell every representative and senator that we’re paying attention and that we demand they choose a side: act to act to protect our Constitution, our democracy, and the rule of law, or continue blindly supporting this lawless president.
